One delegate slot from Manassas and two Delegate slots from Manassas Park are still available and can be filled before the Tenth Congressional District Convention convenes on May 13. Anyone interested in filling one of our three vacant delegate slots may contact MMPCDC at [email protected] or 571-358-9893.
The Manassas and Manassas Park Cities Democratic Committee (MMPCDC) has scheduled assembled caucuses for April 20, 2017 to elect delegates from both cities to the Virginia Tenth Congressional District Democratic Reorganization Convention on May 13.
Caucus participation–including eligibility to run for election as a delegate–is open to all registered voters in the respective cities of Manassas and Manassas Park who sign a standard Democratic declaration form.
The caucuses are scheduled to assemble on Thursday, April 20 at the Manassas Park Police Station, 329 Manassas Dr, in the 1st floor conference room. The doors will open at 6:00 pm for check in and close promptly at 7:00 pm. Those who wish to participate in the voting must arrive before 7:00 pm.
The caucuses will elect a total of 11 delegates–eight from Manassas and three from Manassas Park–who will attend the Tenth Congressional District (Tenth CD) Democratic Reorganization Convention at Broad Run High School in Ashburn VA on Saturday, May 13 in the early afternoon. The delegates at this convention will elect members to serve new four-year terms on the Tenth CD Democratic Committee and concurrently on the state Central Committee of the Democratic Party of Virginia.
All convention delegates from Manassas or Manassas Park must pre-file for election with the MMPCDC chair by Thursday, April 13, at 5:00 pm. Delegates are asked to pay a voluntary $20 filing fee to cover administrative costs, but there is no fee to vote at the caucuses. The Delegate Pre-filing Form, with instructions, may be downloaded from the MMPCDC website, manassascitydemocrats.org, at [ http://bit.ly/2p3XmxC ].
The caucuses may be cancelled six days in advance if the numbers of pre-filed candidates are less than or equal to the number of allocated slots. A notice of such cancellations will be posted on the MMPCDC website by April 13 at 7:30 pm.
A separate pre-filing with the chair of the Tenth CD Democratic Committee, by Friday, April 28 at 5 pm, is needed to stand for election to the latter body. That Committee Member Pre-filing Form, the separate Calls for the Manassas and Manassas Park Caucuses and for the Tenth CD Democratic Convention, and other related documents are posted on the MMPCDC website at [ http://bit.ly/2p3XmxC ].
