Poll greeters–who simply hand out our Democratic sample ballots to voters arriving outside our polling places–are vital to the success of our down-ballot local candidates. Many arriving voters have little or no awareness of the local candidates on their official ballot, which also does not display the party affiliation of any local candidate. Democratic-leaning and independent voters often cast votes for down-ballot Democrats based solely on our sample ballots.
As feasible, we will offer our Democratic sample ballot to arriving voters as they exit their parked vehicles and start walking toward the polling place entrance.
Besides staffing multiple volunteer poll greeters outside all nine polling places in the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd, we will also do this–in Manassas only–for all 30 days of weekday in-person early voting (from September 18 through October 30), and in both cities during the four days of weekend in-person early voting (October 18, 24, 25, and 31), typically from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Early voting begins on weekdays only (from 8:30 am to 5 pm), except all polling places will be closed on Monday, October 12 for Columbus Day. Later, early voting will occur, from 9 am to 5 pm, on Sunday, October 18; Saturday, October 24; Sunday, October 25; and Saturday, October 31.
The signup forms for all of our volunteer-staffed early voting poll greeting are linked below. If you can spare at least two or three hours to participate as an early voting poll greeter, we could really use your help! If your ability to greet voters on weekdays is limited, please take a poll-greeter shift or two on October 18, 24, 25, and/or 31.
