#WorkersOverBillionaires is a national day of nonviolent action, this Labor Day, Monday, September 1, to respond to the attacks on working families by the Trump administration and to remind everyone that in America, the power lies with the people.

For the fourth time this year, our local Democratic committee is organizing a visibility protest and rally in greater Manassas, in solidarity with more than 1,000 other national-day-of-action protests that will be held throughout the United States (and beyond).

Please RSVP HERE, so we know you’re coming and can notify you via email of any late-breaking developments.

Our local event will be held on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, from 11 AM-1 PM, on the sidewalks outside the City of Manassas Community Center at Marsteller Park (8750 Sudley Rd) along the WEST side of SUDLEY ROAD, between Digges Road and Stonewall Road.

We will stand along that Sudley Road sidewalk with protest signs and small American flags to be seen and heard by those in passing vehicles.

Starting around noon, we will also hold a brief rally with live music and short speeches by local union leaders, elected officials, and election candidates on the lawn in front of the Community Center building, opposite Plantation Lane.

Ample free parking will be available in the surface parking lots surrounding the Community Center building, in various surface parking lots at nearby commercial and institutional buildings, and along adjoining residential streets.  WARNING: To avoid getting towed or booted, DO NOT PARK in ANY parking lot or area with signs posted that prohibit unauthorized parking.

Public restrooms, food, and beverages will be available inside the adjacent Wawa convenience store.

Our event headquarters will be beneath a blue popup canopy tent on the lawn outside the Community Center, opposite Plantation Lane.  Visit our headquarters to learn about various local political activities and to create a handmade protest sign if you need one.

Please RSVP HERE, so we know you’re coming and can notify you via email of any late-breaking developments.

This Labor Day, we’re not merely attending barbecues, because we must stop the billionaire takeover of our federal government. Trump and his billionaire friends are converting our federal treasury into their private slush fund. Congress just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the U.S. They’re taking money from working families to put in billionaires’ pockets and to fund Trump’s private army of ICE agents and armed troops occupying our cities.

Just like dealing with any bad boss, we can stop the takeover with collective action. Working people must rise up to stop the billionaire takeover–not just through the ballot box or the courts, but by building a bigger and stronger movement. We are growing our movement and fighting for a country that is more fair, just, equitable, free, and affordable for all of us—and not just a chosen few.

This September 1st, we will champion justice for all working families, standing in solidarity with all communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.

If you have one, please bring a small handheld American flag and a protest sign that speaks to your issue(s).  Patriotic attire is welcome but optional.  In addition, bring a water bottle, dress for the weather, and reach out if you have any questions.  And please spread the word!

IMPORTANT: We have received a public gathering permit from the City of Manassas to conduct this event. Participants must obey all pedestrian and traffic laws and may not interfere with the movements of vehicles or pedestrians. For your safety, please stand back from the roadway at all times, and do not stand in any crosswalk or driveway. Protest signs, flags, and banners may not be larger than 24”x36”, and their supports may not be larger than 1”x1”x36” and lack sharp ends. Our event marshals, wearing orange vests, will act to de-escalate any potential incidents of harassment, vandalism, or violence. If you see something, say something. If the City requires us to modify our plans, we will notify event registrants in advance via email.

**Please note:** A core principle behind all #WorkersOverBillionaires actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Please RSVP HERE, so we know you’re coming and can notify you via email of any late-breaking developments.
