Our 2024 Election Results: A Local Blue Sweep Despite a National Red Wave
The outcome of the 2024 general election was a bizarre mixed bag for Manassas and Manassas Park Democrats. Voter majorities in both cities supported Vice President Kamala Harris for President and Wisconsin Governor Tim Walz for Vice President (56.2% in Manassas, 58.5% in Manassas Park); helped re-elect Tim Kaine to a third U.S. Senate term (59.2% in Manassas, 63.4% in Manassas Park); and elevated State Senator Suhas Subramanyan to the…

Resisting the Trump Agenda

The Indivisible Guide The outcome of the 2016 federal election has been hard for all of us. We’d like to thank all of you who poured your hearts into the coordinated campaign and turned Virginia blue for the third Presidential election in a row–while electing seven of our eight candidates for local public office! The work you’ve done will help us continue the fight to elect Democrats who share our…

What do Trump and his White House crowd have in common? They are all losers. And that is why Bannon is so dangerous. Let’s start with Reince Priebus. Wisconsin lawyer, he has been immersed in GOP politics since returning from University of Miami Law School in 1998 after graduation. He joined a law firm and subsequently ran for Wisconsin State Senate in 2004. He lost to the incumbent Democrat. As…

Does anyone else feel like they are living in a parallel universe? Trump’s hate-filled rhetoric has gone over the edge. I suspect this is all because it is nearly certain that he will lose and losing doesn’t come easy to Donald. He is incapable of accepting the fact that he actually might not win so it must be “rigged” against him. And the only reason, and I mean…

It’s time for our local Republican candidates to share with the voters whether they are supporting, endorsing or voting for Donald Trump. Of course, we can’t follow they into the voting booth, but our citizens need to know if Jon Way, Ian Lovejoy and Theresa Coates Ellis are Trump supporters or endorsers. Hal needs to give us his position as well. The Manassas GOP Committee endorses Trump according to their…

….otherwise known as a convention. But I can’t stand another minute where absolutely nothing of substance has been articulated. Talk of Lucifer by Ben Carson was only outdone by Chris Christie’s Linda Blair impression. I was fully expecting Christie’s head to begin spinning while spewing vomit. But why should anyone be surprised? The entire Trump campaign is predicated on hatred, conspiracies and lies. The speakers have been specifically chosen to…

I’ll admit that Trump is right about one thing: If he shot and killed someone in Time Square, his supporters wouldn’t care. It’s amazing how folks continue to support him and treat him as a serious candidate now that he’s learned the art of the Teleprompter, something he mocked others for using, and able to launch into “policy” speeches as if he knows what he is talking about. Clearly, the…

For all of my Republican friends who are contemplating voting for Donald, please take some time to listen to one of his entire political speeches that he routinely gives at his rallies. The only thing I can compare his rants to are the ramblings of patients I was assigned to as a student nurse at St. Elizabeth’s hospital. It’s called flight of ideas. It’s hard to know if Donald is…

Last night I watched Donald Trump give his “news conference” which, as someone else observed, seemed more like an infomercial. There he was with his wine, steaks and whatever pimping them. For what it’s worth, the “press conference” consisted of 15 minutes of responding to reporter’s questions (while insulting them) and 45 minutes of self-aggrandizement. The whole tone was spookily disturbing. I almost felt like I was watching the mental…

By now, the snow is no longer novel. Our kind neighbor across the street cleared our driveway with his snowblower and another neighbor helped dig out one of our cars. How nice to live in a neighborhood without discord and full of cooperation. I guess we really can’t analogize this spirit to the current Presidential race. The best it can be described is “free-for-all”. Indeed, I am stumped as to…
