Background & Qualifications:

Roberto Maldonado Jr. brings more than three decades of leadership and public service experience spanning education, information technology, federal government, military service, public safety, economic development, and community engagement. As a Career and Technical Education teacher, he prepares students for the future by integrating technology, engineering, and artificial intelligence into hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction with real-world careers.

Roberto’s commitment to public service includes experience as a Congressional staffer, where he gained firsthand insight into the legislative process, constituent service, and the role of government in addressing the needs of communities. Before entering education, he also spent years leading complex technology projects in higher education, government, and enterprise IT, including work with The George Washington University and the United States Senate. These experiences strengthened his ability to manage budgets responsibly, navigate complex organizations, solve problems collaboratively, and deliver practical results.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Roberto has continued his commitment to service throughout the Greater Manassas community. He is an alumnus of the Manassas City Leadership Academy and the Prince William County Citizens Police Academy and has served as a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) for more than a decade. Through these experiences, he has developed valuable insight into local government, public safety, emergency preparedness, and the importance of strong partnerships among residents, businesses, public servants, and community institutions.

Roberto currently serves as one of the Directors of the Manassas Park Economic Development Authority, where he contributes to efforts focused on strengthening the local economy, supporting responsible economic development, and expanding opportunities for the community. His service reflects a continued commitment to the long-term growth and vitality of Manassas Park.

Whether serving his country, working in government, leading technology initiatives, teaching the next generation, supporting economic development, or volunteering in his community, Roberto brings a practical and collaborative approach centered on responsible leadership, strong communities, and creating opportunities for others.

Roberto Maldonado Jr. is a husband, father, educator, proud Latino, United States Air Force veteran, and Life Member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. He values service and mentorship. 

Roberto served as a Martial Arts Instructor for over ten years before becoming a Career and Technical Education teacher. During this time, he worked with children, adults, and families throughout Manassas Park, Manassas, and Prince William County. These years collaborating with people of all ages taught him the values he carries with him today: discipline, respect, perseverance, and serving those around you.

Currently Roberto is an educator in Prince William County, community leader, and one of the Directors of the Manassas Park Economic Development Authority. He believes that by supporting his students, attending community events, and listening to his neighbors he can help cultivate strong communities by keeping people connected and taking care of each other.

This is Roberto’s community.  He serves Manassas Park and is devoted to helping create a better community for future generations.
