Alanna Mensing for Mayor

My name is Alanna Mensing, and I am currently Vice Mayor of the City of Manassas Park. I am excited to announce that this year I am running for Mayor!

Over my last term and a half serving on Council, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that will propel me into the role of Mayor. Not only have I become intimate with the issues facing Manassas Park, I have learned how to work together with my colleagues to create innovative solutions to move forward. I am also deeply embedded in our community. I know that constant communication with the people who live here is key. I have never shied away from knocking doors and having the vital conversations with people that guide me in my decision making.

I have the experience and community engagement to bring Manassas Park into a bright future. I will work to continue to diversify our tax base, bringing retail and entertainment to our community and lowering our real estate taxes.

Finding good businesses to partner and serve our community will help fill our new Downtown and relieve the tax burden on residents. You can see examples of what I have done to help get this ball rolling over my last term and a half. The new library, the coffee shop and Mexican restaurant moving in the same building, a neighboring steak house, and at long last, Lil Bowl and Tortino Mare both coming into our no longer vacant City Center!

With a focus on safety and transportation, I will work to improve pedestrian access to the entire city.

We need to reduce our dependence on driving everywhere. We need safe bicycle lanes and sidewalks for walkers. Recreational trails are also vital for promoting exercise and creating healthy habits. An example of what I’ve done over my last several years in office includes the acquisition of Blooms Park, which added over three miles of recreational trails to Manassas Park.

Finally, funding education and properly staffing our departments will help us serve our children and our residents. As a former school board member, I have a deep respect for the challenges that face public education, and I fully support our school system in their mission.

As Mayor of Manassas Park, I will work towards a diverse and strong community for us all!
