Poll greeters–who simply hand out our Democratic sample ballots to voters arriving outside our polling places–are vital to the success of our down-ballot local candidates. Many arriving voters have little or no awareness of the local candidates on their official ballot, which also does not display the party affiliation of any local candidate. Democratic-leaning and independent voters often cast votes for down-ballot Democrats based solely on our sample ballots.
As feasible, we will offer our Democratic sample ballot to arriving voters as they exit their parked vehicles and start walking toward the polling place entrance.
On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, MMPCDC will staff multiple volunteer poll greeters outside all nine polling places in the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm. With an average of only three poll greeters outside each polling place for 13 hours, our total staffing requirement on Election Day exceeds 350 volunteer hours, a major undertaking for our small all-volunteer organization.
The signup forms for all of our volunteer-staffed Election Day poll-greeting locations are linked below. If you can spare two or three hours to join us on Election Day as a poll greeter, we could really use your help! If your ability to greet voters on weekdays is limited, please take a poll-greeter shift or two for Saturday early voting on October 26 and November 2 in Manassas or Manassas Park.

If you can help for more than a few hours on Election Day, we currently also need volunteer precinct captains or co-captains for several precincts. Precinct captains are responsible for setting up and taking down the Democratic station outside the polling place, supporting and coaching our volunteer poll greeters, and helping to ensure that all poll-greeter shifts are staffed.
If you can help us as a precinct captain, please contact us at [email protected] or 571-358-9893 to volunteer or for more information.
