Parrish Robocall
Let me start by revealing that I’ve become Pope obsessed. I watched almost all day and for sure watched him address Congress. I was guess that his speech pleased liberals more than conservatives. Most of what the Pope endorses sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders. I would guess that the only position that is unaligned with the left is women’s reproductive rights. But climate change, poverty, death penalty and immigration…

How ironic that when Pope Francis arrives, the GOP is in a snit. That Pope is no scientist, they say. I think someone with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry can identify himself as a scientist as opposed to say, Marco Rubio, a lawyer. George Will has completely rejected the Pope entirely because of his views. And who knows what will happen tomorrow when the Pope addresses Congress. When the Pope…

Sadly, Amethyst Women’s Care is closing on September 28, 2015 after providing care to women for the past 27 years. Amethyst has been the only issue that has driven the candidacy of Bob Marshall, Aveni and Lovejoy because Amethyst also provides abortion services. The owner of Amethyst is retiring. She has been brave over the years. Escorts were often necessary to protect the women who used Amethyst so they would…

A new mailer arrived yesterday with a comparison list between Hal and Jeremy McPike. Hal loves to stretch the truth and make unsubstantiated statements. He did not increase pay for teachers as he had zero impact on any votes on that issue. He might be in favor of increased pay but he can’t take credit unless he means back in 2006 when he voted for the ordinance that cost Manassas…

Well, I guess you could call it that. Yes. I actually stayed up and watched to the bitter end. I came away with some new impressions that I can share. First, let’s get The Donald out of the way. I didn’t see anything that would change anyone’s mind who likes him. He hung in there albeit his lack of concrete foreign policy plans. Nonetheless, I would give him a pass….

On Monday, September 14, Bernie Sanders appeared before 2000-3000 folks at the Manassas Fair Grounds. I could not attend but as I understand it, he addressed subjects such as income inequality, racism/police brutality and respect for the police. Earlier in the day, he addressed the students at Liberty University. I noticed that he was very honest and straight-forward about his positions. His social positions are inconsistent with Liberty University’s culture….

Last night attorney Jacqueline Smith joined us for the meeting of the Manassas/Manassas Park Democratic Committee. She spoke about the Clerk of Court position and how she can modernize the system which has been neglected by the current Clerk. Digitizing the court is necessary to keep files safe and accessible. The surrounding jurisdictions are way ahead of Prince William County simply because the current incumbent clerk has made a decision…

On September 12, 2015, we were fortunate to have Senator Mark Warner attend a reception for Virginia’s 29th District Democratic Senatorial Candidate Jeremy McPike held at the home of Ken and Molly Elston. Manassas businesses KO Distilling, El Cactus, Manassas Olive Oil (Chocolate infused olive oil – yum) and one of fine beer breweries (Sorry I can’t remember the name) were well represented. This was a very large group. Other…

I’m sure that each of us can remember where we were on September 11, 2001. I was on a TWA flight that had taken off from Dulles around 9:00 a.m. bound for St. Louis. My flight was work related and was a day trip. I was defending an expert witness deposition. Mid-flight our pilot announced that no one was permitted to leave his or her seat. No explanation why. The…

Potomac Local has apparently “invited” Don Shaw and Bob Marshall to debate on October 13, 2015 in Manassas Park. Invited? Does that mean that Bob accepted the invitation? Such an odd way to publish the event. The event is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Manassas Park Community Center, one of my favorite venues. I think I’ve mentioned previously that the MP Community Center is a real gem. And we…
