If it wasn’t so pathetic, it would be funny. So Hal Pal has Sheriff Glen Hill (Republican) in his latest TV ad supporting him. You need to know, first of all, that Sheriff Hill is not only a Republican, but he is running for Sheriff and will be on the ballot next Tuesday unopposed. You also need to know that Sheriff Hill is African-American. I suspect that this is a not-so-subtle example of Hal Pal’s version of attracting black votes. The ad is also ironic: Supported schools? No. Manassas City Schools are rated 3 out of 10 or lowest in every survey because Hal Pal and his cronies wouldn’t make the full commitment to the school system. (I think if Hal Pal was sent to Richmond, we could expect to see Hal Pal supporting vouchers so Virginia tax payer money will be diverted to private and parochial schools leaving our public schools depleted and vulnerable.) Supported improvements to Rte. 28 and Rte. 1? No. In fact, he’s on record voting against a transportation package because of “frivolous bike trails.” Sheriff Hill has nothing to lose supporting Hal Pal. Literally. He’s in. Hopefully, Hal Pal will be out! It’s foolish to think that sending Hal Pal to Richmond will be good for Manassas because he will abdicate his position as Mayor. The alternatives are just as bad plus additional power in Richmond is exactly what Manassas and Prince William County don’t need.
