In response to the COVID-19 emergency, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"the original date for this election, June 9, was postponed two weeks by Governor Northam. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.virginia.gov\/media\/governorvirginiagov\/executive-actions\/EO-56-AMENDED---Postponing-June-9,-2020-Primary-Election-to-June-23,-2020-Due-to-Novel-Coronavirus-(COVID-19).pdf\" target=\"_blank\">the original date for this election, June 9, was postponed two weeks by Governor Northam.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What&#8217;s At Stake<\/strong><br \/><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only two primary contests apply to the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1) a statewide, three-way Republican nomination contest for U.S. Senate<\/strong>, to challenge Senator Mark Warner, our Democratic incumbent and 2020 nominee, and <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2) a City of Manassas Democratic nomination contest among four candidates (incumbents <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Mark Wolfe (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/MarkforManassas\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mark Wolfe<\/strong><\/a><strong> and <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Pam Sebesky (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pamformanassas\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pam Sebesky<\/strong><\/a><strong> and non-incumbents <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Tom Osina (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tomformanassas\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Tom Osina<\/strong><\/a><strong> and <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Helen Zurita (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.helen4citycouncil.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Helen Zurita<\/strong><\/a><strong>) vying for three available Manassas City Council Democratic nomination slots.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>There will be<\/strong> <strong>no Democratic primary in the City of Manassas Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Virginia, voters do not register by political party, so any registered voter may request a ballot for any <strong>one<\/strong> primary (e.g., either the Republican ballot or the Democratic ballot, if a locality or a congressional district is holding dual Republican and Democratic primaries on June 23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sample Ballots<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/manassascitydemocrats.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/6-23-20-Sample-Ballot-for-Dem-Primary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>View the June 23 City of Manassas Democratic Primary ballot<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"View the June 23 Republican Primary ballot for Manassas (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.manassascity.org\/DocumentCenter\/View\/35266\/SAMPLE-Ballot-R\" target=\"_blank\">View the June 23 Republican Statewide Primary ballot for Manassas<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (Manassas Park&#8217;s Republican ballot lists the identical contest)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your Three Ways to Vote<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1)  Vote at the Polls:<\/strong>  As with most elections, <strong>City of Manassas registered voters may vote in-person at their usual polling place on Primary Day (June 23), anytime between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm.  Due to the COVID-19 emergency, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"All Manassas Park polling locations for the  June 23, 2020 Republican Primary will be moved to the Manassas Park City  Hall building located at One Park Center Court (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofmanassaspark.us\/news\/2002-registrar-announcement-important-voter-information.html\" target=\"_blank\">all Manassas Park voting on June 23 will occur within Manassas Park City Hall at One Park Center Court<\/a>.&nbsp; All in-person voters are asked to wear face masks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:-1px\" class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2)  Vote Absentee By Mail:    Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, voters are strongly encouraged to vote in the June 23 primary by mail-in ballot.&nbsp; <\/strong>While voters must still check off one of the 20 listed excuses for voting absentee on their Absentee Voting Application for the June 23 Primary, <strong>all voters may use Excuse #2A, &#8220;My disability or illness&#8221;, during the COVID-19 emergency<\/strong>.  (You may note &#8220;COVID-19&#8221; as well, but that&#8217;s unnecessary).  More information is provided below.<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3)  Vote Absentee In-Person:<\/strong>  <strong>In-person absentee voting<\/strong> for this primary began on May 8 and will end on Saturday, June 20 at 5:00 pm.  For the <strong>City of Manassas<\/strong>, in-person absentee voting is located in the Old Town Hall building, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/9025+Center+St,+Manassas,+VA+20110\/@38.7511939,-77.4727725,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89b65c75822e9583:0xbff23bdeb1235b72!8m2!3d38.7511897!4d-77.4705838\" target=\"_blank\">9025 Center St<\/a><\/strong>, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on <strong>weekdays<\/strong>  (except federal holidays) and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 20.  For the <strong>City of Manassas Park<\/strong>,  the Voter Registrar&#8217;s office at City Hall, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/1+Park+Center+Ct,+Manassas+Park,+VA+20111\/@38.7675534,-77.4439021,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89b65b0a212bb7fd:0xb8d565cabc522c89!8m2!3d38.7675492!4d-77.4417134\" target=\"_blank\">One Park Center Ct<\/a><\/strong>, will be staffed during the same dates and times, except weekday hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  However, as long as Manassas Park City Hall remains closed to the public, absentee ballot <strong>applications<\/strong> must be completed outside the building, and voters must then call the Registrar&#8217;s office to submit their application and <strong>receive their ballot later by mail.<\/strong>  Manassas Park voters should<strong> <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"read this notice (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofmanassaspark.us\/news\/2002-registrar-announcement-important-voter-information.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>read this notice<\/strong><\/a> in advance.  <strong>All in-person voters should wear face masks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stay at Home &#8211; Vote at Home<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t wait; request your ballot be mailed to you today.
