Sadly, Amethyst Women’s Care is closing on September 28, 2015 after providing care to women for the past 27 years. \u00a0Amethyst has been the only issue that has driven the candidacy of Bob Marshall, Aveni and Lovejoy because Amethyst also provides abortion services. \u00a0The owner of Amethyst is retiring. \u00a0She has been brave over the years. \u00a0Escorts were often necessary to protect the women who used Amethyst so they would not be harassed by the obnoxious picketers. \u00a0She has had to cope with the anti-choice owners of the office next door to Amethyst which provides propaganda to women rather than medical information. \u00a0(I have never understood how that office is allowed to provide medical counseling without a licensed physician on site.)<\/p>\n
Hopefully, the picketers will move on. \u00a0That includes the old men that march with rosaries in hand and the young children who are given pictures of fetuses by their mothers to wave at drivers. \u00a0There were days when small infants were exposed to extreme heat and the police were called. \u00a0The organizer violated the law several times by leaving unattended signs on the grass that these protectors of life have worn away. \u00a0At a hearing of the zoning board, one of the ring leaders accused a pro-choice supporter as sinful because she was married and had decided not to have children. \u00a0She was “not married in the eyes of the Lord”. \u00a0These is why I find these people so odious.<\/p>\n
I am so sorry Amethyst is leaving and was hoping someone would buy the practice. \u00a0But that being said, Marshall , Lovejoy and Aveni will no longer have Amethyst and pro-choice supporters to demean and demonize. \u00a0And maybe that will mean we can get show them the door.<\/p>\n
