Poll greeters\u2013who simply hand out our Democratic sample ballots to voters arriving outside our polling places\u2013are vital to the success of our down-ballot local candidates. Many arriving voters have little or no awareness of the local candidates on their official ballot<\/strong>, which also does not display the party affiliation of any<\/em> local candidate<\/strong>. Democratic-leaning and independent voters often cast votes for down-ballot Democrats based solely on our sample ballots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As feasible, we will offer our Democratic sample ballot to arriving voters as they exit their parked vehicles and start walking toward the polling place entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides staffing multiple volunteer poll greeters outside all nine polling places in the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5th<\/strong>, we will also do this in Manassas for all 32 full days of<\/strong> in-person early voting<\/strong>, from<\/strong> Friday, September 20 through Saturday November 2<\/strong>, typically from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. (This year, the Saturday early voting dates are October 26 and November 2, but there will be no early voting on Monday, October 14, the Columbus Day holiday.) Manassas will additionally offer five hours of early voting on Sunday, October 13, Noon to 5:00 pm<\/strong>. Our total staffing requirement for poll greeting exceeds 1300 volunteer hours<\/strong>, a major undertaking for our small all-volunteer organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signup forms for all of our volunteer-staffed early voting poll greeting are linked below.  If you can spare at least two or three hours to participate as an early voting poll greeter, we could really use your help!   If your ability to greet voters on weekdays is limited, please take a poll-greeter shift or two for Saturday early voting on October 26 and\/or November 2 in Manassas or Manassas Park.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
